ROCHESTER, NY, December 15, 2025 \u2014 Rochester Regional Health (RRH) has been awarded $15 million through New York State\u2019s Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program to support critical upgrades to the health system\u2019s cybersecurity infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The funding, announced last week by Governor Kathy Hochul, will support systemwide hardware and technology enhancements designed to safeguard patient information, strengthen essential clinical and
operational systems, and protect care delivery from increasing cyber threats facing hospitals nationwide.

\u201cHealth systems across the country are navigating significant financial headwinds while simultaneously facing a growing number of cyber threats from those who seek to steal patient data, launch ransomware attacks, and disrupt critical care,\u201d said Richard \u201cChip\u201d Davis, PhD, CEO of Rochester Regional Health. \u201cWe are grateful to Governor Hochul, Commissioner McDonald, and our state representatives for supporting this investment, which allows us to strengthen our defenses, protect patient trust, and ensure our teams can continue caring for our communities without interruption.\u201d

Cybersecurity incidents in health care can delay care, compromise patient privacy, and divert resources away from frontline services. Strategic investments in infrastructure and system security help protect patients while allowing health systems to focus limited resources where they matter most.

The award is part of a broader statewide initiative totaling more than $300 million to advance health information technology, strengthen cybersecurity, and expand telehealth services across New York.
