On April 10, 2026, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Patrick J. Hastings, 67 of Churchville, NY for Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd<\/sup> degree (D Felony), Driving While Intoxicated and other vehicle and traffics offenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 10, 2026, at 8:53 P.M., Troopers out of SP Buffalo responded to a vehicle collision on I-90 in the town of Stafford (mpm 384). Investigation determined that a 2017 GMC Pickup was traveling east bound on the I-90. The 2024 BMW X6 was traveling east bound on the I-90 and struck the GMC from behind causing the GMC to overturn and the operator, Scott K. Berberian, 56 of Syracuse, NY was ejected. Berberian was deceased at the scene. Hastings was uninjured and showed signs of impairment. Hastings failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to SP Batavia and gave a breath sample of .08% BAC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hastings was processed and transported to Genesee County Jail for centralized arraignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Genesee County District Attorney\u2019s Office assisted in this investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
