Assistant Chief of Police with the City of Batavia, Matthew Lutey, says Batavia Police responded to the Batavia Middle School on Ross Street on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, at about 2:38 pm, for a reported disturbance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arrival, officers received information that the initially reported disturbance involved two separate incidents, both of which were de-escalated by school staff prior to police arrival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“No weapons were involved, no injuries were reported, and no charges were filed. The matters will be handled by the school,” says Lutey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a school notification to parents and guardians at Batavia Middle School, a Hold in Place was initiated to safely resolve the incidents and to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff. The situations were quickly resolved by administrators, and the School Resource Officer and students were safely dismissed once the situations were resolved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
