{"id":76111,"date":"2026-06-15T12:02:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T16:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=76111"},"modified":"2026-06-15T12:02:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T16:02:54","slug":"batavia-city-of-batavia-police-remind-city-residents-about-curfew-for-children-16-and-under","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2026\/06\/15\/batavia-city-of-batavia-police-remind-city-residents-about-curfew-for-children-16-and-under\/","title":{"rendered":"BATAVIA\/City of Batavia Police remind City residents about curfew for children 16 and under"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the school year ending soon and summer activities beginning the City of Batavia Police Department would like to take the opportunity to remind citizens of the City of Batavia municipal code with specific regards to curfew regulations.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">City municipal code 139-3 establishes that &#8220;no child under the age of 16 years shall loiter or congregate upon, or in, or otherwise occupy any street, sidewalk, park, alley or other public place in the City of Batavia, or any entrance to a public establishment, or any stairway or hallway adjacent to such street, sidewalk, alley or other public place between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and sunrise, and on Friday and Saturday evenings between 11:00 p.m. and sunrise, unless such child shall be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or by a person over 21 years of age authorized by such parent or guardian to accompany such child.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the City Code specifically states that parents or guardians have an obligation that they will not permit any child to loiter or congregate in the manner prohibited in this article.\u00a0 If a child is found to be in violation of the curfew regulations parent or guardians can expect that the child shall be taken to the police station for such reasonable time as may be necessary to notify the parents or guardian of such child location, circumstances involving the Police contact and reunification. \u00a0No such child taken into custody shall be confined except in accordance with the provisions of the Family Court Act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have any questions, you may contact the City of Batavia Police Department located at 31 Bank St.\u00a0\u00a0 Thank you and have a healthy safe summer.
