{"id":77220,"date":"2026-07-16T23:06:54","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T03:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=77220"},"modified":"2026-07-16T23:06:54","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T03:06:54","slug":"genesee-county-office-for-the-aging-awarded-americorps-seniors-rsvp-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2026\/07\/16\/genesee-county-office-for-the-aging-awarded-americorps-seniors-rsvp-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"GENESEE COUNTY\/Office for the Aging awarded AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Genesee County Office for the Aging has been awarded a three-year AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP grant totaling $422,571 to support volunteer-led programs for older adults throughout Genesee County.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The County will receive $140,857 annually for three years to launch the Healthy Futures initiative.<br>Through the program, more than 200 volunteers will help provide transportation, wellness programming, nutritional support, companionship and other services that help older adults remain healthy, active and independent.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This grant allows us to engage over 200 passionate volunteers to directly combat social isolation and health vulnerabilities among older adults,&#8221; said Jessica Riley, OFA Director. &#8220;We are honored to partner with AmeriCorps to provide an AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program, allowing us to expand our reach, enhance independent living, and foster deep community connections dedicated to the county&#8217;s older population.&#8221;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the three-year grant period, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers will support several areas of<br>service, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Providing transportation to medical appointments, social adult programs and community day<br>programs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leading wellness and fall-prevention programs, including Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls<br>Prevention and Stay Active and Independent for Life;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offering companionship, budgeting assistance, library services, meal delivery, safety checks, and<br>grocery assistance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting local food pantries with the collection and distribution of emergency food;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assisting nonprofit and government agencies that provide programs and services throughout<br>Genesee County.<br>AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP is a national volunteer program for adults aged 55 and older.
