South Byron and Stafford also responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Byron Fire Chief Robert Mruczek says a small farm building and an outbuilding that was attached were involved in the blaze along with a van that was not being used. A refuse pile was also involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding fire crews responded quickly, working against the high winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They made a great stop,&#8221; says Chief Mruczek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They got the water right on the fire and put it out quickly to stop it from spreading.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The farm was no longer a working farm and there were no animals inside the structure and no one was injured. One firefighter was checked out by Mercy Medics on scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No one was home at the time of the fire and a passerby called 911 to report the blaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Genesee County Sheriff&#8217;s Department Fire investigator was called in to assist the Byron Fire Department in looking for the cause of the fire. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Byron Fire Department was called to 6478 Freeman road for an outbuilding fire about 3:15p.m. Saturday afternoon.
