Press release

Robert S. Hill, 38, of Varysburg was arrested on several charges January 8, 2017 following a one car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Orangeville.

Deputy Chase had located a car that had crashed into a culvert on Route 20A and observed foot tracks leading from the vehicle into an adjacent wooded area.

New York State Police Trooper Hoy along with his partner, K9 Rison, arrived at the scene moments later to assist in the search for the driver.

K9 Rison, a dutch shepard trained in narcotic detection and tracking, led officers approximately half a mile to a local business in the Town of Orangeville.

At the business, the owner stated they had just given a stranger a ride to a location down the road.

Deputy Chase and Deputy West responded to the location provided by the owner and located Robert Hill.

Hill was interviewed and subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. Hill was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he supplied a breath sample of 0.13% BAC.

Hill is charged with unsafe lane change, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, DWI, and driving with a BAC of .08% or greater. He is to answer the charges in the Town of Orangeville Court at a later date.

The vehicle was estimated to be totaled and towed away by Ott’s Collision.

Also assisting at the scene was Trooper Fanton of the NYSP.
