ORLEANS COUNTY/Girlfriend of Albion man charged with attempted murder arrested after intimidating a witness


On June 9, 2017, the Albion Police Department arrested Wesley Askew, of Albion for various assault charges and attempted murder.
The victim in the case is identified as Joseph A. Julyan, 53, of North Main Street, Albion, NY.
Julyan remains hospitalized at Buffalo General Hospital in critical condition. He suffered head injuries in the incident that are considered to be life threatening.

During the assault, the suspect, Wesley Askew, sustained fractured bones in his wrist and hand. Askew was treated for his injuries at the Erie County Medical Center prior to being arraigned and incarcerated at the Orleans County Jail.

Askew remains jailed on $250,000.00 bail and is also being held on a Parole Violation Detainer Warrant. Askew is currently on Parole for a 2009 rape 2nd conviction in which he was incarcerated for 6 years by the NYS Dept. of Corrections before being released on Parole.

On June 12, 2017 at 3:28p.m., the Albion Police arrested Wesley Askew’s girlfriend, Danielle N. Wray, 40, of  East Bank Street, Albion, for intimidating a witnesses in the case against Wesley Askew.

It is alleged that Wray threatened witnesses who provided information to law enforcement regarding the assault and attempted murder investigation against Askew.

Wray is charged with intimidating a victim or witness in the 3rd Degree (E Felony)
Wray was arraigned in the Town of Albion court and placed in the Orleans County Jail on $15,000.00 bail.
