WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Varysburg man misses driveway, ends up in the bushes

A Varysburg resident was arrested after attempting to turn into his driveway from  Route 98, but missed the driveway by twenty feet.

Bruce C. Smith, 71, of Rt. 98, Varysburg, was driving southbound on Route 98 on June 15, 2017 when he attempted to turn left into his driveway.  Smith ended up driving into his front yard and striking a large bush instead.

Smith refused field sobriety testing at the scene and was subsequently arrested for DWI.  He was then taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and charged with moving from a lane unsafely, DWI and driving with .08% BAC or higher.

Smith was released to a sober third party, and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Sheldon Court on June 26, 2017.

 

 

Willie B. Pugh, III, 43, of Allen, TX, was arrested following a traffic stop on  Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw on June 17, 2017.

Pugh was stopped after being observed driving without any license plates.

Pugh was able to provide temporary registration paperwork, however his NYS driver’s license was found to have two active suspensions for failing to answer two out of state traffic tickets.

Pugh is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court.

Bail was set in the amount of $500.00 cash bail or $2,000.00 bond, and Pugh is scheduled to return to the Town of Warsaw Court on June 26, 2017 for further proceedings.
