WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Mt. Morris man charged after accident where he admitted to checking a text message just prior to the crash

Matthew Isham, 31, of Mt. Morris, was arrested following a motor vehicle accident on Route 19 in the Town of Middlebury on September 28, 2017.

Isham was operating his vehicle northbound on Route 19. He left the roadway on the east side and hit a utility pole. Isham admitted to using his phone to check a text message just prior to the crash. He was treated at the scene by Wyoming Fire Department and released with no serious injuries.

Isham failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs. Deputy Myers, a Drug Recognition Expert from Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, evaluated Isham and also determined that he was impaired by drugs. Isham is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs,  Move From Lane Unsafely, Depositing Litter on the Roadway, Using a Mobile Electronic Device, and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument.

He was arraigned in the Town of Middlebury Court and committed to jail on $1000 bail.

Isham is due back in court October 2, 2017.
