GENESEE COUNTY/Alexander native shot to death during robbery at his home in Florida

Alexander native William Reiss, 68, was shot to death at his residence in Polk City, Florida on January 3, 2018 during a robbery.

Suspects made off with 31 firearms and Reiss’ pick up truck.

“He was partially disabled and could not get around too good, but I can tell you he didn’t go down without a fight,” says cousin Teal Hyde Langmaid.

Reiss worked as a Correction Officer at Attica Correctional in the 70’s and was the originator of the Attica Haunted House which was popular in the 70’s. There is an Attica Haunted House Facebook group that exist on Facebook to share memories.

Reiss has a large family group that still live in the area.

“It is surreal,” says Langmaid. “It is sickening and makes me enraged.”
