A Castile woman is facing a felony charge for arson after a fire investigation at a business that burned down.
In the early hours of February 15, 2017, around 12:30 am, a report was made to the Sheriff’s Office that the Castile Diner,
located at 125 South Main Street, Castile, was possibly on fire.
When deputies arrived on scene they observed a working
structure fire.
The owner of the business, Amy S. Goodenow, was on scene at the time of the fire.
Fire Departments from Castile, Nunda, Pike, Silver Springs and Warsaw responded to the scene and a few more departments were requested to stand by at their halls. The crews battled the fire for several hours.
After a lengthy fire & criminal investigation, it was determined that the fire was set.
Although Goodenow owns the business, Steve Gitsis, is the owner of the building and it’s contents.
Amy S. Goodenow, no age provided, is charged with arson 3rd, a class C Felony.
She was arraigned in the Village of Castile Court and bail was set at $5,000 cash and $10,000 bond.
Goodenow posted bail and was released. She will return to court on April 3, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.
