The Western New York Ford Dealers have donated two Ford vehicles to two local schools as part of the Ford Future Techs Program.
The Batavia Career and Technical Education Center and the Cattaraugus/Allegany Boces in Ellicottville each received a 2014 Ford model vehicle at a press conference Tuesday morning.
The cars and accompanying diagnosis and repair technology will be used to cultivate early interest in a career in the automotive industry and better prepare students as they pursue this track.
Entering its third year, the Ford Future Techs program is a philanthropic initiative created by the Western New York Ford Dealers that invites local schools with Automotive Technology programs to apply for a chance to receive pre-owned vehicles to use in their curriculums. This year’s donated vehicles are 2014 models to ensure students are learning automotive mechanics and technology on current models.
Ford Future Techs aims to overcome the auto tech repair employment challenges by supporting Buffalo-area schools that specialize in auto-repair CTE.
The program was created by the WNY Ford Dealers as a response to the scarcity of skilled auto technicians in the area.
