The NYS High School Rodeo Association held it’s State Finals at the Genesee County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday.
This is the first time the State Finals were held in Batavia.
76 students were involved in the competition this year, the top 4 in each category will qualify for Nationals.
Students who are in 6-8 grade will compete in Lebanon, Tennessee, June 18-24th and 9-12th grade will travel to Gillette, Wyoming July 16-22nd.
Students from all over NYS are members of the NYS team along with students from Vermont, Connecticut and Maine since they do not have a team.
The categories are bareback riding, saddle bronc, chute dogging, goat tying, pole bending, tiedown, ribbon roping, break away, barrel racing, bull riding and team roping.
On Sunday there will be an awards ceremony.
