BATAVIA/Man arrested after incident on Miller avenue

Gordon D. Sprague, 40, of Miller Ave., Batavia is charged with harassment 2nd, obstructing governmental administration 2nd, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd and criminal mischief 4th after a physical domestic and brief standoff with police.

At about 2:48p.m Wednesday, police were dispatched to 3 Miller avenue for a report of a physical domestic.

Upon arrival, Sprague was physically attacking a female victim outside the residence, he then ran into the residence and locked the doors and refused all attempts to communicate with police and family members.

A K-9 unit and Negotiator from the Sheriff’s Office then arrived on scene to assist.

After about an hour, Sprague agreed to exit the apartment where he was taken into custody without incident.

While being taken into custody, an illegal switchblade knife was found in his possession. Due to a prior criminal conviction, the weapons charge was elevated to a felony.

Sprague was arraigned in City Court and jailed without bail.

He will appear in court again tomorrow morning.
