Batavia Downs President/CEO Henry Wojtaszek says the “Rockin the Downs” concert series will continue next summer.
The series kicked off in June with Lonestar and will be wrapping up July 22nd with the Lee Greenwood show.
“It has been a great experience and we want to continue it into the future,” says Wojtaszek.
The six shows also included Dennis DeYoung, Eddie Money, Lou Gramm.
This past weekend’s show with the Marshall Tucker Band attracted the largest crowd of the year at the Downs.
“This year we had very little time to decide on the acts, we only had a couple of months, this time we have little more time to do so.”
Wojtaszek says the concert traffic helped in the restaurant and entertainment areas at the Downs and next year they are looking to add two more shows for a total of 8 concerts.
“It has been a fantastic experience and it has been growing every week. The quality of the show, the experience for the people who are showing up here has been great. It’s a real nice intimate place to see a show up close with VIP seating, General Admission, food trucks, it has been a real nice experience.”
Wojtaszek thanked local residents for supporting the shows.
“We are venturing out a little more too, we are getting a lot of Rochester/Buffalo area people.”
In the meantime, the Downs is preparing for the Live Racing Season which opens July 26th at 4:30p.m.
There are also a few fall/winter season indoor concerts planned at the Downs.
