WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Virginia men facing charges after traffic stop in Perry

Two men from Virginia are facing numerous drug related charges following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry September 12, 2017.

Aaron T. Burrill, 42, was pulled over by Deputies after displaying a broken taillight and failing to signal a turn. A DWI investigation began when Burrill was suspected of being impaired by the use of drugs and alcohol.

Burrill submitted to field sobriety testing in which he performed poorly. During the course of the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia commonly used for smoking crack-cocaine was located inside of the vehicle and the passenger, Deybi I. Espinoza, 28, was found in possession of cocaine.

Burrill was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he underwent a drug influence evaluation by a certified Drug Recognition Expert. Burrill was determined to be impaired by multiple combinations of drugs and unsafe to operate a motor vehicle.

Burrill is charged with inadequate taillight, no turn signal, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, DWAI-Drug, DWAI-Combo, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Espinoza is charged with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Burrill and Espinoza were both arraigned in the Village of Warsaw Court and remanded to the custody of the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail/$3,000 bond.

Burrill and Espinoza will answer the charges in the Town of Perry Court at a later date.
