GENESEE COUNTY/Teen indicted on attempted murder charge

Jeffrey L. Barr, 18, no permanent address, is facing a two count indictment after a male was stabbed in the throat behind a shopping plaza at 4140 Veterans Memorial Drive on October 13, 2017.

In the indictment, Barr is accused of attempted murder 2nd, a class B violent felony, after he allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife with the intent to cause the death of the victim.

In count two, Barr is accused of assault 1st, a class B violent felony, after he allegedly caused serious physical injury to the victim by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, a knife.

Barr was taken into custody the next evening when he was located by a City of Batavia Police Officer at the corner of State street and Washington avenue.

Barr is being held at the Genesee County Jail without bail.

After being stabbed, the male victim made his way to the parking lot at Batavia Downs where a Good Samaritan called for help.

The victim was transported to ECMC with serious injuries, but is expected to make it according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
