Army Sgt. Christopher Green, 26, of Corfu returned home tonight after a year deployment. He has spent the last 7 months in Afghanistan, Nangarhar Province.
His attachment is out of Rochester, B Company 3126.
Green was a door gunner on a CH 47 Chinook helicopter. His job was to fly around supporting the ground troops.
He is currently on leave until January 15 , 2018. He says he will not be going back, but will still hold National Guard status. Green plans to return to his job as a State Trooper in Amity. He has been a trooper for three years.
Green’s girlfriend of three years, Kaela McMartin, met him at the Buffalo Airport on Thursday night and says she was surprised by the the fire and police escort that began with the Transit Police from the airport.
“This is so surreal,” says McMartin.
