The Alabama Fire Department was called to 1239 Judge road at about 8:30 on Friday night for a reported fire inside the barn.
Upon arrival, a second alarm was requested and fire crews from Oakfield, Elba, Indian Falls and the City of Batavia Fast team were requested to the scene.
The first barn was fully involved and according to a family member, goats, sheep and chickens were lost in the fire, several horses were able to get out and the status of the cows are unknown.
Firefighters were working to keep a second barn from also catching fire.
According to Deputy Richard Schildwaster with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, there was livestock lost in the fire.
“We don’t know that it was intentionally set and we don’t know the cause of the fire at this time and it is under investigation,” says Schildwaster.
No one was injured in the blaze.
The two horses were harnessed and taken to a neighbors barn down the road for the night.
