GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Bergen man allegedly impaired by drugs after collision with train

The Genesee County Sheriff’s office is investigating a train vs. pick up truck accident that occurred on the CSX railroad track just north of Buffalo Street Road in the Town of Bergen on November 28, 2017 at about 6:50p.m.

Donald R. Read, 46, of Bergen, was operating a 200 Ford F150 westbound on Buffalo Street Road when he stated that he fell asleep causing the pick up to travel off the north shoulder of the road down an earth embankment.

The pick up then traveled across the south and northbound tracks and came to rest facing north, near the northbound set of railroad tracks.

A CSX train was traveling eastbound on the north set of tracks, when it struck the pick up, causing damage to the rear of the truck.

A passenger in the pick up truck, Frank L. Morrison, 36, suffered minor injuries and was transported by Bergen Volunteer ambulance to Unity Hospital in Rochester.

Read was arrested and charged with DWAI/drugs, moving from a lane unsafely, unlawful possession of marijuana and trespassing. Additional charges are pending.

The accident is being investigated by Sgt. Jason Saile, Deputy Rachel Diehl, Deputy James Stack and Deputy Eric Meyer.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Bergen fire Department and CSX railroad with train operations.

 

 

Jason S. Hall, 28, of Rochester Rd., Gasport, is charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana after a DEC license check while on Feeder road in the Town of Alabama on November 24, 2017.

Hall was allegedly operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs and following field sobriety tests, Hall was placed under arrest and transported to the Genesee County Jail for a drug recognition expert evaluation.

He was processed at the jail and released on appearance tickets.

Hall will appear in Alabama Town Court on March 7, 2018 at 6:00p.m.
