WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Silver Springs man strikes a vehicle then leaves scene and drives into a vacant house

Justin R. Bodine, 31, of S. Main St., Silver Springs, was arrested after leaving the scene of a personal injury accident which occurred at 12:45 a.m. on December 8, 2017.

Bodine was operating his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Route 19A in the Town of Genesee Falls when he failed to negotiate a curve correctly and struck an oncoming vehicle. The collision caused the operator of the vehicle to sustain an arm injury.

Bodine then drove the vehicle from the scene without stopping to check on the other vehicle.

While Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies were investigating this accident, a second report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident was reported in the Village of Silver Springs. Bodine was driving the same vehicle on Ribaud Avenue in the Village of Silver Springs when he drove the pickup truck into a vacant house. Bodine again left the scene on foot. Vehicle parts at the scene on Route 19A in Genesee Falls determined Bodine’s vehicle was involved in both collisions.

On December 10, 2017, Bodine turned himself into Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies. Bodine is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident (class A misdemeanor), reckless driving, speed not reasonable and prudent, unsafe tires, moved from lane unsafely, driving to the left of pavement markings (No Pass Zone), and failed to keep right.

Bodine was released and scheduled to appear in the Town of Genesee Falls Town Court on January 10, 2018 to answer the charges.
