The Albion FFA delivered 35,000 lbs of fresh produce to the Orleans & Genesee Community Action Saturday morning .
25 students from the FFA and local food pantry volunteers loaded the fresh produce that was provided by local farms onto a flatbed semi at the Albion High School, then unloaded it at Community Action on East State Street.
Eight food pantries and local churches then showed up at Community Action to collect the foods they needed.
The FFA has been collecting food with the help of the local farming community since 2010. It all started with 3,000lbs of food and has now ballooned to 35,000 lbs.
Farms from Orleans, Genesee, and Erie Counties donated vegetables, eggs, bread and fruit.
Many of the pantries say they will now have enough food through Christmas and into the new year.
Any food pantry that was unable to show up this morning to pick up food can call Michelle Figueroa at Community Action at 585-589-5605 Ext. 105.
