WYOMING COUNTY/ Firefighters hampered by heavy snow in early morning garage fire

With over 24 inches of snow covering the area overnight, making the roads impassable, firefighters who responded to a garage fire at 104 Exchange street in Attica were hampered in putting out the blaze that was called in about 3:45a.m. on March 2, 2018.

The Village of Attica DPW was able to clear enough roads for fire trucks to respond to the scene.

Many recreational vehicles and tools were lost in the 24×24 foot garage that was owned by Bruce and Michelle Bradford.

With a limited number of firefighters that were able to respond, crews were still able to arrive in time to stop the flames from spreading to the family home. There was damage to the surrounding exposures.

The fire remains under investigation and is considered a $100,000 loss

Fire crews from Attica, Varysburg and Bennington responded along with the Attica Police Department, Attica DPW and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. There were no injuries and fire crews remained on scene for about 2 hours.
