BATAVIA/”March For Our Lives”

About 175 people gathered at William’s Park on Pearl street at noon on Saturday,  to rally and march in solidarity with the rest of the country in the “March For Our Lives” event spurred by the Parkland, Florida School shooting.

Speakers and participants gathered at the park for a rally and then marched to City Center on Main street where they chanted “kids before guns”

Speakers were Pastor Jim Renfrew, Retired Monroe County Sheriff’s Lt., Gary Pudup of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence and Carol Kistner of Bethany, who is a member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, also Sophia Alkhouri Stuart, a Senior at Batavia High School. The event was MC’d by BHS student Lauren Leone.

One Comment:

  1. What “money” is spent on guns—other than that by the gun purchaser? So now we have Democrats, etc. telling what we can and what we can’t spend OUR money on? Yes, I do agree that more money could be spent on the mental illness issue. BUT then, how many of these mass shootings took place and OTHER PEOPLE knew of the possibility of that shooter–going off the deep end, such as Cruz, in Florida? Amazing, that in this day and age, we have people who not only tell us HOW to speak (PC) but are actively taking away one of our Constitutional rights. WHAT WILL BE NEXT?
