WYOMING COUNTY/Perry duo face charges after fake $100 bill passed at a local restaurant

A Perry duo face multiple charges after the Perry Police investigated a complaint of a phony $100.00 bill being passed at a local restaurant.

On Monday evening, April 2nd, 2018 around 8:40p.m., an order was called in to a local restaurant. A short time later, a female entered the restaurant and tendered a phony $100.00 bill. The female then left the restaurant with the food and change from the restaurant.

Perry Police traced the phone number back to John P. Mann of  S. Main street in Perry. Mann was interviewed and he identified the person who tendered the phony bill as Amber M. Ellis, 31, of S. Main street, Perry.

Mann allegedly had no knowledge that Ellis used a phony bill until later when police initially contacted him. Mann was taken into custody by Perry Police and NYS Parole for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, unlawful possession of marijuana and violation of parole. Mann was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail.

Police then arrested Amber M. Ellis and charged her with forgery 1st-felony, possession of a  forged instrument 1st-felony, criminal simulation of a government instrument-misdemeanor and 2 counts of petit larceny.

Ellis was arraigned in Perry Village Court by Justice Miller and remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 cash bail and is to appear in court at a later date.

Perry Police were assisted by Deputy McGinnis of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Dept., United States Secret Service-Buffalo and NYS Division of Parole.
