Eileen Ostrander and her son Joe Condidorio heard a revving engine and saw smoke coming from the woods across the street from their house about 8:20p.m. on Thursday evening.
Living in the country on South street road in Pavilion, they thought it could have been a four wheeler passing by.
When Eileen and her son stepped outside they saw the rear of a pick up truck sticking out of the woods and the rear tires spinning creating a cloud of mud.
The pair quickly sprinted across the street to check on the driver.
He had no pulse and he was unconscious with his foot on the gas according to Eileen.
That is when her son Joe tapped the male driver, in his mid 50’s, in the face and dragged him from the truck onto the ground in a field where Eileen performed CPR until an ambulance arrived in scene.
According to Sgt. Saile with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the ambulance crew was able to determine the driver had a heart attack and he was transported by ambulance to UMMC.
The male driver did have a pulse and a heartbeat when he left the scene thanks to the quick action taken by Eileen and Joe.
Condidorio says while he and his Mom were across the street helping the driver, his 13 year old daughter was inside the house calling 9-1-1.
UPDATE: According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the pick up, Paul G. Battaglia, of Piffard, NY, was transported to UMMC and then transferred to Rochester General and is listed in critical condition.
