BATAVIA/The family of the victim in the Liberty street homicide is looking for answers

Family members of Ray Morgan converged at the corner of Liberty and Central avenue on Wednesday afternoon to come together and give each other support as they attempted to collect their loved ones belongings after he was brutally attacked and killed at a boarding house for parolees late Tuesday night.

When they arrived at the 10×10 foot living space that Morgan occupied for the last few months, they found it had been cleaned and all his belongings had already been removed by the landlord.

Visibly upset over the fact that disturbing pictures of the crime scene were taken by another parolee in the boarding house and posted on social media before they were even allowed inside, family members expressed their disbelief in how the property was left open after police left the scene this morning.

The family says they were able to track down Morgan’s laptop through a serial number and they say it was located in another parolee’s room. That parolee was taken into custody by NYS Parole along with one other parolee.

They say a TV was taken and an old one put in its place. Family members say they were left with bags of bloody clothes and not much else.

At this time police have not charged anyone in the killing and are looking for leads in the case. As of right now, they have a report of a subject that was seen exiting the residence through a second story window. They are also checking security cameras in the area.

If anyone has any information they should contact the City of Batavia Police at 585-345-6350 or the confidential tipline at 585-345-6370
