Ricky Lee and his crew are ready to hit the stage tonight at 7:00p.m at Batavia Downs in the last “Rockin the Downs” concert of the 2018 season. Lee is currently traveling with his band on the Freedom Tour and will open up for headliner Lee Ann Womack who will take the stage at 8:30p.m tonight.
Lee and his Tour Manager Bill Branter, who has been traveling with Lee for 9 years and has served in Vietnam with the Army and with the Navy in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, along with 12 other people, set up 500 flags in the infield on Thursday as they prepare for their concert this evening. In about 90 minutes the group had the infield covered.
“We invite everybody out to have a great time and honor our veterans and honor America and be proud of what our country has ,” says Lee.
“Music is very healing and emotional, so when you tie it to these American flags and a great day in America and an event like here at Batavia Downs, its a winner.”
Lee says he has several surprises during his show tonight, one will be the unveiling of a new song.
He plans to return to the area around Christmas to perform in his “Music for Vets” program at the VA in Batavia and Buffalo. A date has not been confirmed as of yet for the two performances.
