On National Dog Day, Louie, a wiener dog from Pittsford, NY, is the creme of the crop after a 10 heat race at the 14th Annual Wiener Dog Races at Batavia Downs on Sunday afternoon.
Louie’s owners coaxed him down the track a few times with a can of whipped creme, his favorite treat, to take first place in a large field of Dachshunds that showed up for the races at Batavia Downs.
After video review, it was determined that Dexter, from Buffalo, came in second and Jasper of Clearwater, Fla., was 3rd.
The 1st place winner receives $100 in free play, the 2nd place winner receives $75 in free play and the 3rd place winner receives $50 in free play.
All winners received two clubhouse buffets and the 1st and 2nd place winners received dog food from sponsor Genesee Feeds.
