GENESEE COUNTY/Batavia Downs Gaming breaks ground on $4 million expansion project

Batavia Downs’ Expansion Will Offer A Number Of New Amenities To Better Serve Customers

Press release

BATAVIA, NY – Today, leaders from Batavia Downs Gaming and Thurman Thomas, Bills Hall of Fame running back and Batavia Downs ambassador, joined several New York State elected officials to break ground on Batavia Downs’ $4 million expansion project that will offer new amenities to better serve customers.

Coming off recent renovations to the parking lot, paddock room and construction of the party deck, Batavia Downs’ new expansion features a new cigar bar, additions to Fortunes restaurant that include a new banquet area and bar, as well as the addition of kitchen space to more efficiently serve 34 Rush customers.

“We are excited to officially open our expanded gaming and dining facilities,” said Henry F. Wojtaszek, President/CEO of Batavia Downs Gaming WROTB. “This expansion project will offer a number of new amenities to customers, which will in turn increase our revenue, allowing us the ability to make more contributions to surrounding communities. We hope to continue expanding our facility in the future to better serve our customers in Western New York. I hope in the near future we will also have the opportunity to provide sports betting to all the dedicated sports fans in Western New York so we can provide more critical funding for community development which creates jobs, protects families and helps to offset tax increases for residents.”

“I am grateful to be a part of an organization that makes serving their customers a top priority and I am excited to see the growth of Batavia Downs because we give back so much to the Western New York community,” said Thurman Thomas, former Hall of Fame Buffalo Bills running back, Vice Chair of New York State Tourism Advisory Council and Batavia Downs Ambassador.

“As a member of the Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee, I’m pleased to see the only municipally owned gaming facility in New York state expand to better serve the Western New York community,” said New York State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer. “Their new amenities are spectacular, and I wish them success as they officially open their new facilities to the public.”
