On September 25, 2018 at 11:00 p.m., State Police in Albion were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Sawyer Road in the Town of Gaines.

Troopers found that Brandon Woodhams, 26, of Lyndonville was operating his vehicle south on Sawyer Road at a high rate of speed when he drove off the roadway striking a tree approximately five feet off of the ground. The force of the impact severed the vehicle in two with the front of the vehicle becoming engulfed in flames.

Woodham escaped the wreckage with only minor injuries to his elbow. Troopers determined that Woodham was impaired by alcohol and placed him under arrest for DWI and moving from a lane unsafely. Woodham was later tested and found to have a BAC of .15%.

Woodham is scheduled to appear in the Town of Gaines on October 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. to answer the charges.
