Surrounded by his family, Roy Bell Jr. officially cut the ribbon at his new barbershop located at 49 Buell street on Saturday morning.
“I like making people happy, this is a job where I feel like I am never at work, I am just having a conversation with people making them feel good, a good haircut can make you feel good, it’s their appearance and that can change the way your whole day went,” says Bell.
Bell says he decided to open up his barbershop at his residence because there is no overhead. Owning a separate shop he says can be challenging and difficult with extra bills and he would have to charge higher prices.
“This is a better way for me to make money and build up a client base and make it so my haircuts are affordable. I have my kids and I need to make sure I can put food on the table and pay the bills.”
Bell says he used to cut hair in basic training, cutting soldiers hair after the military messed their hair up.
“I had a little passion for it, but I never really took action until 2016. I have had my license now for two years.”
Bell Boyz is open Monday through Saturday 10:00a.m.-8:00p.m.?, by appointment only.
To make an appointment call 585-300-1242 or on Facebook at Bell Boyz Barbershop, also on Instagram.
