GENESEE COUNTY/Arrest made in burglary investigation

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department has arrested Malik I. Ayala, 27, of Walnut St., Batavia, on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Batavia Court for possession of stolen property 3rd, with the value of that property exceeding $3,000. When the value of the stolen property exceeds $3,000, the charge is a class “D” felony punishable by up to seven years in state prison.

Ayala was allegedly in possession of the stolen property on October 24, 2018 after an incident at a business on Veteran’s Memorial Drive.

Malik I. Ayala was arrested on November 16, 2018, after Investigator Chris Parker identified a vehicle that was wanted in connection with several burglaries in Genesee County on Washington avenue a little before 5pm on Thursday November 15, 2018.

After following the vehicle, the suspect vehicle, being operated by TeeSean T. Ayala, 19, turned into a driveway at 317 Washington avenue. According to the Sheriff’s Department, a .22 caliber semi automatic pistol was then thrown from the vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office says TeeSean Ayala was allegedly in possession of a stolen handgun that had a defaced serial number in the vehicle during the traffic stop.

TeeSean T. Ayala was charged with criminal possession of weapon 2nd, criminal possession of weapon 3rd, criminal possession of marijuana and plate obstructed. He was jailed on $15,000 cash bail after being arraigned in City Court.

Malik I. Ayala was arraigned in the Town of Batavia Court and is being held in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond bail.

He will re-appear in court on December 17, 2018.
