GENESEE COUNTY/Pavilion man arrested on a sealed indictment warrant after traffic stop, passenger also charged

The Genesee County Local Drug Task Force arrested a town of Pavilion man and a city of Batavia woman after an investigation into the possession, transportation and sale of Fentanyl in and around Genesee County.

On Friday afternoon, the Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Stafford. Operating the vehicle was Jack E. Benson, 60, of St. Mary’s Street Extension in Pavilion. Benson had an active sealed indictment warrant for criminal sale of a controlled substance 3rd and criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd, both class B felonies.

Benson allegedly sold a quantity of Fentanyl to an agent of the Genesee County Local Drug Task Force on three different occasions. He also was allegedly found to be in possession of 24 separate quantities of suspected heroin and approximately $1,300 at the time of the traffic stop.

Benson was arraigned in Genesee County Court by Judge Zambito and jailed without bail. Additional charges are pending.

Jolynn M. Gorski, 38, of Ross St., Batavia, the passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.  She was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Task Force members were assisted by the Batavia Police and the Genesee County District Attorney’s Office.
