LEROY POLICE REPORT/Arrests made during the “STOP DWI Holiday Crackdown”

Over the weekend, Officers from the LeRoy Police Department assigned to road patrol as well as Officers assigned to the STOP DWI Holiday Crackdown, a special enforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving, made several arrests involving impaired drivers.

In the late afternoon of December 15, 2018, members of the LeRoy Police Department responded to a local grocery store after receiving a complaint that a female had just driven to the store in an intoxicated state.

Patrols responded to the store and located 57 year old, Linda B. Towner, of Batavia, near the vehicle it was alleged she had been operating. After a brief investigation, patrols believed Towner had operated the vehicle prior to it being parked in the parking lot of the store. Towner was found to be intoxicated and arrested without incident. She is charged with DWI and operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08% or more, both are misdemeanors.

Later in the evening on the same date, patrols observed a vehicle allegedly operating at a high rate of speed in the Village of Le Roy, at the time of operation the driver’s view was also obstructed.

Patrols executed a lawful traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the operator as 46 year old Scott M. Hoover, of Bloomingdale, Ohio. Following a brief investigation, Hoover was found to be allegedly operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state. Hoover was placed under arrest and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08% or more, a misdemeanor, speeding in a zone, a violation, and driver’s view obstructed.

In the evening of December 16, 2018, patrols observed a vehicle operating all over the roadway, the operator of the vehicle was allegedly unable to maintain the designated driving lane, the vehicle moved so far outside of the lane that the tires struck the curb on the side of the roadway. At one-point patrols observed the vehicle occupying both lanes of the highway.

As a result of the patrol’s observation of the operation of the vehicle, the vehicle was stopped. 42 year old Jeremy J. Trzecieski, of Pavilion, was identified as the operator.

During the traffic stop and the brief investigation that followed, Trzecieski was found to be allegedly consuming an alcoholic beverage while operating the motor vehicle. During the investigation, patrols believed Trzecieski to be intoxicated and he was subsequently arrested. He is charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, aggravated DWI (driving with a BAC of .18% or higher), a misdemeanor, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, a violation, failure to use designated lane, a violation, and improper left turn, also a violation.

Towner, Hoover, and Trzecieski were all issued appearance tickets as the result of their arrests. All are to appear in LeRoy Town Court on January 17, 2019 to answer to their charges.

24 year old Kayne W. Probst, of Lynn, Massachusetts, was arrested by the LeRoy Police Department on December 13, 2018 and charged with one count of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

On December 13, 2018, members of the LeRoy Police Department received a complaint of a larceny that had just occurred at a local store, it is alleged that Probst took merchandise from the store without paying.

After a brief investigation combined with information provided by the complainant, Patrols were able to identify and locate Probst. Probst was taken into custody without incident.

Probst was arraigned in the LeRoy Town Court in front of the Honorable Judge Sehm and turned over to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $500 bail. Probst is to return to the LeRoy Town Court on December 20, 2018 to answer to the charge.

James O. Boughton, 18, of Chili Riga Center Rd., Churchville, was arrested on December 10, 2018 by the LeRoy Police Department and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and disobeying a traffic control device, both violation level offenses.

While on patrol members of the LeRoy Police Department allegedly observed the vehicle operated by Boughton pass through a red signal. Patrols executed a lawful traffic stop on Boughton’s vehicle, identified him as the operator, and after a brief investigation found Boughton to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

He was issued tickets and is to appear in the LeRoy Town Court on January 17, 2019 to answer to the charges.
