Councilman Donald Mullen was unanimously voted in as Town of Stafford Deputy Town Supervisor at the Stafford Town Board Regular Town Board meeting on January 14, 2018.

The position was being held by Councilman Robert Pacer.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mullen made a recommendation to the board.

“For Deputy Supervisor, wonder if we are at a point where someone else can step in and start working towards the future,” said Mullen.

Addressing Councilman Pacer, “Nothing personal,” said Mullen.

“I would like to do the job, I would like to start learning more about what Bob(Clement) does and back him up, just my opinion.”

“The pay is good,” replied Pacer.

“Is it? Didn’t look,” said Mullen.

“There is none,” said Pacer.

“Vote?”

“Gonna vote Bob(Clement)?”

“Yeah okay, is this agreeable to everybody?,” asked Clement.

Newly appointed Councilman James Duyssen motioned to appoint Mullen as Deputy Town Supervisor and Robert Panek gave the motion a second.

The motion was carried and Mullen was voted in as Deputy Town Supervisor.

About half way through the meeting, it was discovered that newly appointed Councilman James Duyssen was never sworn in. An emergency swearing in was then held with Town Clerk Julie Scheuerlein performing the official event in the meeting.

The official swearing in was made retroactive to 7:30p.m. so Duyssen’s votes counted in the first hour of the meeting.
