GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Two men charged after allegedly scamming homeowners

On February 4, 2019 about 2:30p.m., the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of individuals trying to scam residents for driveway repair work in the Town of Darien on Rt. 77.

An investigation revealed that Joshua D. Cooper, 32, of Ovid, NY and Charles E. Cooper, of Lodi, NY, were allegedly performing work at a residence without the property owners permission and then tried to charge the property owner multiple sums of money.

The pair were arrested and charged with soliciting without a permit, scheme to defraud 2nd, and conspiracy 6th degree. Joshua was also charged with criminal mischief 4th.

The Coopers were arraigned in the Town of Darien Court.

The investigation is being handled by Deputy McCarthy, Deputy Forsyth, Deputy Krzemien and th NYS Police Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit.

Emily E. Dale, 27, of Water St., Attica, is charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, speed not reasonable and prudent, moving from a lane unsafely and unlicensed operator after an investigation into a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Alexander on Maplewood road on February 2, 2019.

Dale is accused of operating her motor vehicle in an intoxicated state when she drove off the roadway. Her driving privileges were suspended at the time and she allegedly moved from her lane unsafely and was not traveling at a speed that was reasonable and prudent for the road conditions.

Dale was transported to Strong Hospital for a mental health evaluation during the incident. She refused to submit to a chemical test to determine the alcohol content of her blood.

Dale will appear in the Town of Alexander Court on today at 1:30p.m. for arraignment on the charges.
