LEROY/Rochester man found slumped over the wheel facing charges, struggled with officer during arrest

Ronald G. Besemer-McLean, 37, of Portland Parkway, Rochester was arrested on Saturday March 2, 2019 by the Le Roy Police Department and charged with one count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 1st, a class E felony, one count of tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony, and one count of resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 8:12 a.m. the on-duty Patrol was requested to respond to the area of Route 19 and the on-ramp to the NYS I-90 Thruway entrance for the report of a subject passed out at the wheel of a vehicle in that area.

Upon arrival, the Officer located a vehicle matching the description of the one provided and found Besemer-McLean asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

During the investigation of how Besemer-McLean ended up asleep along the side of on ramp it is alleged that he drove there after leaving an unknown location in Greece. It was also discovered during the investigation that Besemer-McLean had a revoked NYS Driver’s license, as a result Besemer-McLean was placed under arrest.

When attempting to execute the arrest, Besemer-McLean failed to comply with the Officer’s orders and a struggle ensued between the Officer and Besemer-McLean.

While attempting take Besemer-McLean into custody, he did take an item that was evidence pertaining to the investigation, and place it in his mouth and swallow it.

Besemer-McLean was eventually taken into custody.

A portion of the investigation was conducted by members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently Besemer-McLean has additional charges pending.

Besemer-McLean was arraigned in Le Roy Town Court in front of the Honorable Judge Sehm and turned over to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail on the Le Roy Police Department charges. Besemer-McLean is to return to the Le Roy Town Court on March 5, 2019 to answer to the charges.

The Le Roy Police Department was assisted by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.
