State Police say charges are pending in hit and run/pursuit incident that spread across three counties

Trooper James O’Callaghan, Public Information Officer with Troop A, says charges are pending in a hit and run/pursuit incident that spread across three counties late Monday night.

Jessy L. Miller, 32, of Medina, the driver of a vehicle that struck a female on Judge road near Griffin road in Alabama then took off, is currently a patient at ECMC. Miller suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, after crashing his SUV in Niagara County after a police pursuit. Charges are pending in the hit and run incident and the police pursuit.

The incident started in Medina, where Miller’s vehicle struck a house after doing donuts in a yard. Medina Police arrived on scene and Miller fled the area in his SUV.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office then pursued the vehicle after it left the scene in Medina, and as it headed south into Genesee County the State Police and Genesee County Sheriff’s Office were advised of the incident.

State Police came into contact with the vehicle on Judge road near Griffin road in Alabama. O’Callaghan says both Miller and the female were ordered to get of the vehicle. The female got out of the vehicle and Miller put the SUV into reverse and the female was struck with the open door. Miller then went forward with the vehicle and the female was struck again by the door.

After the incident, the female was transported to ECMC by ambulance with unknown injuries.

Trooper O’Callaghan says the pursuit was terminated and police came across the SUV by luck in a parking lot after it was involved in a crash south of Middleport in Niagara County.

At this time Miller is still a patient at ECMC.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending for Miller after his release from ECMC.

O’Callaghan did not know the condition of the female involved in the hit and run on Judge road and whether she was still hospitalized or not.
