WYOMING COUNTY/Four adults being assisted by the Red Cross, pets lost in Saturday night fire in Java

Four adults are being assisted by the Red Cross after flames were shooting through the roof of their apartment house at 936 Chaffee road in the Town of Java on Saturday night about 8:15p.m.

Fire crews were called to an apartment house that contained two apartments. Investigators say a water pump had an electrical malfunction and was the cause of the blaze that caused $125,000 in damages.

The apartment house is owned by Lynn Kirchmeyer and is a total loss.

One firefighter was transported to WCCH for a medical condition.

Four adults that lived in the two apartments are being assisted by the Red Cross. Some family pets were lost in the fire.

Crews from Strykersville, Sheldon, North Java, Arcade, Bliss, Harris Corners, Wales Center, Yorkshire and Chaffee/Sardina were on scene for 8 hours.
