500 friends and family spent Sunday afternoon with Joe Trigilio who is battling brain cancer.

Joe was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in January of 2019 and is currently undergoing treatment at Roswell. Two tumors were found according to his family, and this type of brain cancer is terminal. It is the same type of cancer that John McCain and Ted Kennedy were diagnosed with. By undergoing chemo and radiation, Joe’s family is hoping to extend his life for about a year. During this short time his medical expenses have grown exponentially.

The benefit for Joe packed the Downs and about 200 people had to be turned away. Joe is well known at the Downs as his family ran the Track Kitchen as well as working at the track and with horses over the years. Joe is also a great bowler and is well known in the sport.

$15-$20,000 in donations were received for gift baskets for the Chinese Auction and Silent Auction. There was also a 50/50 raffle.

The OHMS band also performed during the fundraising event.

If anyone would like to donate to help Joe and his family with medical expenses they can call Angela at 585-343-1129 or Tammy at 585-813-4455.
