GENESEE COUNTY/Rochester man arrested after attempting to avoid a check point, accused of attempting to bring Fentanyl into the jail

Ryan C. Northrup, 35, of Chamberlain St., Rochester, was arrested after allegedly attempting to avoid a vehicle checkpoint being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office on Rt. 33 in Bergen on March 24, 2019 4:36 p.m.

Northrup pulled into a driveway and missed the driveway and struck a drainage culvert causing damage. He then left the scene of the property damage accident.

Northrup was then pulled over and found to have a revoked NYS driver’s license.

He is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd, mandatory suspension, operating without an ignition interlock device. leaving the scene of a property damage accident and unlicensed operator.

Northrup was arraigned in the Town of Bergen Court and jailed on $1,000 cash bond. While being processed at the Genesee County Jail, Northrup was arrested for introducing dangerous contraband into the jail.

He allegedly had a quantity of a white substance tucked into his wallet. The substance was tested and was positive as Fentanyl.

Northrup was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th. He was arraigned in City Court and jailed without bail.

He will appear in the Town of Bergen Court on the checkpoint incident on April 17, 2019 at 3:00p.m. Northrup will re-appear in City Court at a later time and date.
