GENESEE COUNTY/ Rear end collision sends six people to the hospital

UPDATE: In a Sheriff’s Dept. accident report, the driver of the 2011 Jeep, Theresa M. Gioia, 60, of Auburn, NY, was ticketed for following too closely after striking a 2017 Mazda SUV in the rear as it was slowing down to make a left hand turn. Both vehicles were headed westbound on Rt. 5 at the time of the accident. Two teens in the Mazda, the driver, Maddison T. Howard, 17, of Elba, and passenger Zachary D. Howard, 15, were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Three other occupants in the Jeep, Jacob Kraatz, 15, Julie M. Wall, 36, and James R. Gioia ,64,were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Six people were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries after a rear end collision involving two SUVs on Main road in East Pembroke on Sunday afternoon.

The accident closed down Main road between Cleveland and Indian Falls road for just under an hour.

Four people from one vehicle were transported to UMMC and two people from another vehicle were transported to ECMC, all six with minor injuries according to East Pembroke Fire Chief Don Newton.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident and will have more information in a press release at some point.
