WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Bennington man gets stuck in yard twice

On April 19, 2019, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Smith, 50, of Bennington for DWI.

Deputies responded to an address on Burrough Road after receiving a call from a resident there that Smith was stuck in their yard and was causing issues.

Upon arrival, Smith was located inside his vehicle which was stuck in the yard. Deputies were informed that the property owner had pulled Smith out of the yard once already, but then Smith drove into the yard a second time.

Smith refused any sobriety testing and was subsequently charged with DWI and refusal to take a breath test.

He was arraigned and held at the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $4,000 cash bail or $8,000 bond. Smith is scheduled to return to Bennington Court on June 3, 2019.

On April 22, 2019, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested William E. Dreyer, 44, of Bliss, after being advised that he was at a residence in Eagle and was unwanted.

Dreyer was wanted by the State of Pennsylvania for parole violations.

Dreyer was held at the Wyoming County Jail without bail on the charge of being a Fugitive from Justice. The State of Pennsylvania will pick up Dreyer at a later date.

Daniel Mathews, 36, of Albion, was arrested following an accident on Hardys Road in the Town of Pike on April 16, 2019.

Mathews was traveling south on Hardys Road when he drove his vehicle off the roadway striking a telephone pole.

He failed roadside sobriety tests, and he was subsequently arrested for DWI. Mathews submitted to a breath test which showed his BAC to be over .08%.

Mathews is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more, and failure to keep right. He was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Pike Court on May 21, 2019.

Demetrius Lee, 27, of Boyd’s County, MD, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw on April 20, 2019.

Lee was stopped for speeding, 80 MPH in a 55 MPH speed zone. He was found to be in possession of marijuana. Lee was issued appearance tickets for speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana and is to appear in the Town of Warsaw Court on June 3, 2019.

Melanie Toland, 41, of Strykersville, was arrested following a traffic stop on Centerline Road in the Town of Sheldon on April 28, 2019.

Toland was stopped for failing to keep right.

She failed roadside sobriety tests, and she was subsequently arrested for DWI. Toland submitted to a breath test which showed her BAC to be over .08%.

Toland is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more, and failure to keep right. She was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Sheldon Court on May 13, 2019.

On April 23, 2019, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested John R. Weaver, 31, of Groveland, NY, on an arrest warrant.

Weaver was picked up by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to Wyoming County. Weaver had pending charges of DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and a violation of probation. He was held at the Wyoming County Jail without bail.
