The David McCarthy Foundation provided the finishing touches on a new Coach/pitch field for the 6-8 year old division at the Batavia Minor League fields and today the Foundation was recognized during a game on Saturday morning.
The Foundation helped finish the project by fencing the field, adding backstops and gates and assisted with the funding and installation costs.
David McCarthy passed away in 2006 after a car accident and was very active in athletics in the area. His foundation was created around a golf tournament he always participated in. Now in its 13th year, the Foundation and Tournament raise funds to support athletics in Batavia and Alexander for boys, girls, high school and youth sports.
