BATAVIA/Honoring Veterans at the PTSD Memorial Walkway at the VA

VA Western New York Healthcare System and Batavia Veterans Alumni Association honored Veterans who have passed away at a Memorial Ceremony on Friday, at the Batavia VA.

The ceremony was held at the walkway behind Building 5 of the Jack Wisby Jr. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Building.

Five Veteran graduates of the PTSD Program had their names added to the walkway this year to join 50 other Veterans who have been honored since the walkway was unveiled in 2006.

“Each year, the PTSD Programs partner with our Peer Support Volunteers to honor the lives of fellow Veterans who have passed away, said Caryn Dilandro, Ph.D., PTSD Program Manager. She added that “this partnership is one of the many ways that our VA community can honor and advocate for the hard work towards recovery from PTSD. We honor the lives of all the Veterans we have served in the past, and continue to serve in the future.”

The Jack H. Wisby Jr. Memorial Walkway was made possible by donations.
