Christopher Kreutter and Mary Fuss, both 24, met while enrolled in the Conservation program at Genesee Valley BOCES in Mt. Morris in 2012, during high school.
Kreutter says he knew after their first week together he would be spending the rest of his life with Mary, but he kept that thought to himself because it was only their first week of dating.
Mary says he makes her laugh a lot.
Christopher says they both have weird personalities and they like the same things
The pair have been inseparable ever since.
So on Tuesday night, in a farmer’s field in Castile, friends and family helped pop the question, “Will you marry me?” as Mary and Christopher hovered above the field in a helicopter provided by Right Brothers Aviation out of Chaffee, NY.
Mary says she really didn’t think the sign was meant for her at first.
Christopher told her the helicopter ride was a barter deal with Right Brothers Aviation in exchange for a kitchen project.
Christopher has been running his own business, Airbourne Cabinets in Perry since he was 18, while Mary sometimes helps out.
Mary has been working at a jewelry store for three years and had her wedding ring picked out, but since Christopher missed the latest sale, she figured he did not get the ring at her store.
The couple already had a wedding date picked out before Tuesday, 10/10/2020.
But Mary was still waiting for Christopher to propose.
As the chopper landed in the green field with friends and family cheering the couple on, Christopher got down on one knee and proposed, placing the ring that Mary had picked out a few months ago on her finger.
The answer was an obvious yes after Mary kissed Christopher and raised her hand in the air, much to the enjoyment of the friends and family watching the proposal unfold.
The couple plan to continue what they are doing and possibly become foster parents down the road.
Christopher says it was very hard trying to hide the surprise from Mary.
“Every year she askes me, when you gonna put a ring on it?”
“Well this is the year,” says Christopher.
