The Town of Stafford Public Hearing and vote on Local Law # 5/ Stafford Solar Law.
The process began in January of 2017 with a moratorium. A Solar Study Committee was created to look into all aspects of solar farms during the moratorium, their disadvantages and advantages.
After a final review by the Stafford Town Planning Board last month, the local law was approved in a 5-0 vote after a second public hearing in June 10, 2019.
The law changes local zoning laws in regards to large solar farms.
The law is now referred to Genesee County for final approval.
