BATAVIA/Eat Well Grill cuts the ribbon on their new place inside Eli Fish Brewing Company on Main street

Eat Well Grill has officially cut the ribbon on their new place inside Eli Fish Brewing Company at 109 Main street in the City of Batavia.

Eat Well Grill had a soft opening on July 1st and is open from 11am-7pm Monday -Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11am-8pm and Sunday from Noon -5pm.

John and Jill Kratz

John and Jill Kratz along with their family and friends and the community cut the ribbon on a new healthy choice restaurant that offers healthy salads and bowls made with locally sourced food from Porter Farms in Elba.

The menu consists of six salads and six bowls.

The salads are greens based served with protein choices like chicken, steak and shrimp. The bowls are grain based, served with rice, quinoa or sweet potatoes. All have different vegetables and berries.

Smoothies and Protein Shakes are also available along with Karma Wellness Water.

Eating well has become a way of life for the Kratz family, and dealing with health concerns through nutrition is a way to manage those health issues.

“It evolved over the years,” says John.

“Being involved with CrossFit, performance goals, drawing from nutrition, this kind of amplified it, then Jill’s meal planning business evolved from that, she was meal planning for herself then for a few other clients.”

Jill created her own business called Commit to Well after the client list started to grow. She says she has been using the YWCA kitchen to prep her weekly meals for people for a few years.

Jill provides healthy, well balanced meals to those looking to live a healthy lifestyle.

John, who has 20 years of restaurant experience, says he is more tied into healthy eating and the product being served at Eat Well. The couple’s three children are also trying to keep up with a and 80/20 balance as far as nutrition. 16 year old son Collin is not only helping out, but has been creating smoothies and protein shakes.

“He does this all on his own, he is very disciplined,” says John.

“Jill is a great example.”

11 year old Kaitlin and 14 year old Kaylie are also learning as the family ventures into the small business world in Batavia.

John hopes that Eat Well Grill will fill a void as far as restaurant options in Batavia.

“If you are trying to avoid gluten or dairy and trying to eat healthy, it gets tough.”

The Kratz’ would travel to Buffalo and Rochester to eat within the guidelines.

“We found that we were not the only ones having this issue, so we said why not open a restaurant like this locally.”

“The timing with having the opportunity here a freshLAB was terrific, kind of what brought us here today.”
